Terms of Service
Agreeing to these terms
Before you book, you will see a clear statement — in the booking-page text, in a banner on the booking site, or in a Square digital contract you are asked to sign — that says something like "By booking, you agree to the Terms of Service," with a conspicuous link to this page right next to it. You have to take an affirmative step — clicking Book after seeing that statement, or signing the digital contract — to complete a booking; I do not treat browsing the site, or booking without that step, as agreement to anything.
Who you're dealing with
These are the Terms of Service for Maureen's Massage (Maureen Leonie Reid, LMT MA78217), a Florida-licensed massage therapist operating as a sole proprietorship. You can reach me at hello@maureensmassage.com. Notices under these terms may be sent to 3589 E Gulf to Lake Hwy, Inverness, FL 34453.
If we disagree
These terms are governed by Florida law. If a dispute between us cannot be resolved informally, it will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Citrus County, Florida, and both of us agree that those courts have exclusive jurisdiction and are the proper venue. Both of us waive any objection to that venue on the ground that it is an inconvenient forum (forum non conveniens) or that another forum would be more convenient.
Disputes with Square are not disputes with me
Square's own Buyer Terms contain a separate arbitration process for disputes you have with Square as a payment processor — for example, a billing or payment-processing problem. That process is between you and Square. It does not apply to, and is not adopted for, any dispute you have with me about a service, a fee, or these Terms; that dispute is handled under the "If we disagree" section above.
Square is my booking and payment tool
I use Square to run my booking calendar and to process payment. Square is a separate company from me, and it processes your payment as its own service to you, under its own terms. Square is not a party to the agreement between you and me for massage services.
Changes to these terms
I may update these Terms from time to time. When I do, I will post the full, updated Terms on this page — not just a note that something changed — dated with the new effective date, and I will keep the prior version available. If a change is material, you will have a reasonable window to stop booking under the new terms before they take effect; continuing to book after that window, or booking again, means you accept the update.
Amendments apply only to bookings, services, and disputes arising after the amendment's effective date. No amendment applies to any dispute of which I had actual notice before the date of that amendment — including a dispute already raised, threatened, or accrued — even if the amendment says otherwise.
One set of numbers, everywhere
The no-show fee, the refund mechanism, and the gift-certificate terms stated in these Terms are the same numbers and the same rules you will see at Square checkout, in confirmation and reminder emails, in any marketing I send, and on my Google Business profile. If you ever see a different number or a different rule on any of those surfaces, the version in this document controls, and please let me know so I can fix the inconsistency.
No-shows and cancellations
I hold your appointment time for you and I do not double-book it. If you need to cancel or move an appointment, tell me at least 24 hours beforehand and there is no charge at all.
If you cancel later than that, or the appointment is missed, a no-show fee applies.
The fee is half the price of the service you booked:
Swedish massage, 60 minutes — $39.50
Swedish massage, 90 minutes — $54.50
Deep tissue massage, 60 minutes — $42.50
Deep tissue massage, 90 minutes — $59.50
Sports massage, 60 minutes — $42.50
Sports massage, 90 minutes — $59.50
Seated chair massage, 30 minutes — $22.50
Cupping, 30 minutes — $22.50
Hot stone massage, 30 minutes — $22.50
In-home visit, 60 minutes — $62.50
In-home visit, 90 minutes — $74.50
That fee is the whole of what is owed for the missed appointment, whichever tier applies. It is the only charge. I do not also bill for the session that did not happen, I do not charge the full session price on top of it, and I do not add anything else to it.
Each tier above is a fair advance estimate of what a missed appointment of that length actually costs me: the time is gone, it was held for you, and a booking of that length that late cannot be filled from anyone else's calendar. The tiers are not a punishment for cancelling and they were not worked out to be one — the reasoning behind each figure is written down when the tiers are set, not after a dispute happens.
Anything I refund goes back the way you paid it — to the card or account the payment came from, or to the gift certificate balance if that is what you used. I do not substitute a credit or a voucher for a refund.
Gift certificates
A gift certificate from me never expires. There is no dormancy fee, no account-maintenance fee, no fee to cash it out, and no charge of any kind just for holding it unused. Whatever value is on it is still there whenever you, or whoever you gave it to, are ready to use it.
This certificate is redeemable only with me — it is not part of any marketplace, gift-card network, or group of unrelated businesses. Because it is a single-merchant certificate, Florida law does not require it to ever be turned over or reported to the state as unclaimed property, no matter how long it sits unused.
If you book as a guest
If you book without creating a Square account, these Terms — not Square's own Buyer Terms — are what govern your booking and your relationship with me. Square's guest-booking flow does not clearly show whether a guest is asked to accept Square's separate Buyer Terms, so I am not assuming that you have, and I am not relying on them to cover you.
Square's own terms
Square's Buyer Terms and other legal notices are Square's own documents, published at https://squareup.com/us/en/legal. I link to them there rather than repeating or summarizing them here, so you always see Square's current version (last checked 2026-03-16).
What I say about my services
As a Florida-licensed health care practitioner, I am subject to state advertising-accuracy rules that require everything I say about my services — on this site, at booking, and in any marketing — to be accurate and not misleading. Consistent with that regulatory duty, my practice is not to use superlatives like "best" or "only," and not to advertise a credential, technique, or result I cannot substantiate.
If part of these terms doesn't hold up
If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, that part will be limited or severed only to the extent necessary, and the rest of these Terms will remain in full effect.
The whole agreement
These Terms of Service, together with the Intake & Consent Form you complete before your first session, are the entire agreement between us about massage services. They replace and supersede any other statement — written or verbal — made before or during a session, including anything said in conversation that might otherwise be read as changing what these documents say.
